Meet the Men’s Crew
Meet the Tugun Rebels Men’s Crew representing Staminade at the Ocean Thunder Surf Boat Series Round 2 at Dee Why, Sydney. The men were successful in qualifying during the Staminade Quenchers qualifiers at Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast to secure their spot. A new crew in their first season with the prestigious Tugun Surf Lifesaving Club, having previously rowed in country NSW, we wanted you to get to know them a little more.
Bowman: Brendan Ratcliffe – 22 years old and in his 2nd season of rowing. An apprentice boiler maker, he also loves deep sea fishing and cross training.
2nd Bowman: Eli Gray – Eli is only 19 and in his 2nd season of rowing as well. Just out of high school, he still reigns supreme as Dominos fastest delivery driver. He could possibly be the youngest ever competitor in Ocean Thunder????
2nd Stroke: Riley Landini – Riley is 22 and has rowed surfboats since he was 16. He is just about to sign off his apprenticeship as a boiler maker and in winter plays rugby for Southern Cross University.
Stroke: Morgan McDonough – Morgan is the veteran of the crew at 25 and in his 7th season. A licensed plumber by trade, he also enjoys playing both rugby league and union.
Sweep: Brook Down – Brook stopped having birthdays many years ago when he turned 27. A burnt out footballer, he also spends his spare time home brewing and 4WDing in the bush.
Round 2 of the Ocean Thunder Surfboat Series is on Saturday 10th December 2016 at Dee Why beach, Sydney. For more information visit the Ocean Thunder Surfboat Series website.
