Following our previous blog about the ambitious summer goals of Rowan Sutton, we have an update to share.
Rowan’s on the right, at the medal presentation after Triple Jump

In his words:  “From the 6th to the 8th of December I went to Townsville for the Australian All Schools Championships. I competed in the under 16 men’s Long and Triple Jump over the weekend and was quite happy with my results.

“Although I didn’t jump any personal bests, my distances were good considering the conditions we were jumping in – a huge crosswind which occasionally swung into a headwind, making it difficult to get a proper judgement of my run up in practice. I ended up 4th in the Long Jump with a fairly decent jump of 6.62m. My best result was in Triple Jump, placing 3rd with a jump of 13.34m.

“Overall, I was happy, although reflecting on the weekend, I realise I could’ve changed a few little areas to improve, but it’s all part of a big learning curve. I’m hoping to Jump and place better next year in other championships – I’ve got a lot of training to do…”
